About Boulognersjön Swimming Area

This artificial swimming lake is the hub of Skövde's city park and creates a fantastic setting for summer days off. Between May and September, the lake is filled and the fountain is put into operation, making the site a vibrant gathering point. The swimming area is characterised by its accessibility and the generous grassy areas that invite both sunbathing and picnics under the open sky.

A visit to Boulognersjön is about more than just swimming. The park itself is a historic environment with walking paths winding through lush greenery and beautiful nature. There is a substantial jetty extending into the lake, and for those who wish to cook outdoors, fixed barbecue spots are available. The area is also designed to be accessible to everyone; during the swimming season, an accessibility ramp is installed on the main jetty to assist people with disabilities in getting into the water.

The swimming area is centrally located in Skövde and is easy to reach both on foot from the travel centre and by car. Parking is available in close proximity to the water, including at the nearby Student Union building (Kårhuset). Toilets are available from mid-May to mid-September. Please note that Boulognersjön is not a swimming area for dogs; dog owners are instead directed to other designated spots outside the public bathing areas. To guarantee a safe swimming environment, water samples are taken regularly throughout the summer.
